Ben Raines to Present His New Film “The Carnivorous Kingdom”

The University of South Alabama will host a presentation and screening of the documentary “The Carnivorous Kingdom,” a new film by Ben Raines, an award-winning environmental journalist, documentarian and author of “Saving America’s Amazon” and “The Underwater Forest.” 

The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the University of South Alabama MacQueen Alumni Center (100 Alumni Drive, Mobile, AL, 36688). The screening is free and open to the public.

The University of South Alabama School of Marine and Environmental Sciences is committed to communicating the environmental wonders of our remarkable region. The school trains the next generation of marine and environmental scientists, conducts cutting-edge research, and extends the impact of this training and research through service activities. 

This event will offer a rare view into Alabama’s secret world of flesh-eating plants. The screening is sponsored by the University of South Alabama College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Marine and Environmental Sciences.

Students at South can pursue a major in marine sciences or environmental and sustainability sciences. The graduate program offers a master’s in marine conservation and resource management, master’s in marine science, master’s in environmental toxicology and Ph.D. in marine science.
