Biography

Dr. Anne Glerum is a clarinetist and educator based in Mobile, Alabama. She serves as the Assistant Professor of Music in Clarinet at the University of South Alabama, where she teaches applied clarinet lessons, clarinet ensemble, and woodwind methods. Glerum has held graduate teaching assistantships at both Florida State University and the University of Florida, and has served as the clarinet instructor at Leon High School, FSU Summer Music Camps, and Gatorland Band Camps.

Dr. Glerum has maintained an active private clarinet studio of middle and high school students in northern and central Florida. Her students have earned positions in the Florida All-State Band, district bands, regional honor bands, and the Tallahassee Youth Orchestra. Many of her students have been accepted into prestigious programs for music, including Florida State University and the University of Florida. Most recently, one of her students was selected as the winner of the Tallahassee Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition.

As an active performer in the gulf coast region, she performs with multiple regional orchestras, including the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and Panama City Symphony. She has also performed with ensembles such as Sinfonia Gulf Coast, The Gainesville Orchestra, and the New Jersey Wind Symphony. Glerum often participates in chamber music of many kinds, including outreach performances with the Cascade Wind Quintet and the Fountain Five Wind Quintet. She participated in a multimedia performance with the Florida State University Graduate Clarinet Ensemble at ClarinetFest in Dublin, Ireland in 2024, in which the ensemble commissioned two new pieces for clarinet choir. Glerum has also appeared as a soloist with the University of Florida Wind Symphony as the winner of the Graduate Concerto Competition in 2021.

Dr. Glerum holds a Doctor of Music degree in Woodwind Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Delaware. Her primary clarinet instructors have included Deborah Bish, Jonathan Holden, Mitchell Estrin, and Christopher Nichols.
