Economics and Finance

James L. Swofford and co-authors Per Hjertstrand and  Gerald A. Whitney have an article titled "Mixed Integer Programming Revealed Preference Tests of Utility Maximization and Weak Separability of Consumption, Leisure and Money" forthcoming in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.

Khandokar Istiak and co-author Apostolos Serletis have an article forthcoming titled “Financial Intermediary Leverage Spillovers.” in the Research in International Business and Finance.

For the first time in 20 years, the International Council of Shopping Centers recently held their 2016 Gulf South Idea Exchange in Mobile. Dr. Reid Cummings was an invited panelist for the March conference, speaking on the topic, “Commercial Real Estate Market Outlook.” Dr. Cummings presented 2010-2015 economic and demographic data and trend analysis discussion for 9 Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama metropolitan statistical areas, including Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette, New Orleans, Jackson, Gulfport-Biloxi, Montgomery, Mobile, and Mobile-Baldwin.

Donald Epley spoke recently to a local firm at their long-range planning meeting at Point Clear on the Mobile economy. The topic was “The current performance of the Mobile economy and expectations for the future.”

Donald Epley has been appointed to the annual award and prize committee by the editor of the Appraisal Journal, which is the official publication of the Appraisal Institute in Chicago. The award is given annually to the best academic paper. The journal is the official publication which serves the 20,000 members worldwide.

Management

Kelly Woodford presented a 2016 Employment Law Update at the Mobile Chapter of the Medical Group
Management Association's annual Professional Development Conference on Friday, April 1 at the Mobile Convention Center.  More than 100 participants attended the seminar.

Jeanne Maes presented at the Annual Gulf Coast Advance Faculty Retreat in February in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.  She presented on negotiations and conducted a discussion group on negotiation.
