Student Spotlight Nicole Pressly Weil

Nicole Pressly Weil

‘I never knew what it would be like to do what I love every day, while simultaneously learning what I love, so that I can work towards having a career that is truly everything I ever dreamed of having.’  This is what it is like for me every day as I walk through the halls and engage with other students and the faculty here in the Mitchell College Of Business.

I am originally from the tiny town of Eastover, North Carolina; however, my family relocated about ten years ago and settled in Spanish Fort across the bay.  In 2012, I graduated from the Alabama School of Math and Science and began college classes in the fall at the USA College of Nursing.  In the spring last year, I finally made the fabulous decision to major in Finance, and since then I have been diligently working to graduate with the fall class of 2016.

A couple of notable groups I am involved in, as a Finance major at the MCOB, include the Financial Management Association and the Jaguar Investment Fund.  Last spring, I was elected treasurer of FMA, and this spring I will be representing USA along with six other students and two faculty members at the annual FMA Leadership Conference, which is being held in Chicago this year.

Outside of the classroom and the MCOB Finance Lab, I am working on obtaining my insurance license so that I can start an internship this spring with Strategic Wealth Specialists in Mobile.  I also just established a new limited liability corporation with my family in December 2015.  With this company, we are planning to invest in real estate and establish a solid foundation of real estate holdings for years to come.  I also enjoy playing tennis and tutoring students in mathematics and statistics.  So as a takeaway from this, if there were three things I had to pass on to other students, especially here at South, I would say, ‘Pay attention in class, don’t fret, and never give up.’
