Nurses Week spotlight: College of Nursing faculty award recipients

As part of Nurses Week, the University of South Alabama College of Nursing is proud to recognize faculty whose teaching, scholarship, service and mentorship help shape the future of nursing.

This year’s faculty award recipients reflect the mission and values of the College of Nursing through their work in the classroom, in scholarship and in service to students, the profession and the community.

“I am proud of the exceptional work of the College of Nursing faculty, who are dedicated every semester to teaching students, advancing scholarship, and serving the University, the College of Nursing, and communities along the Gulf Coast, across the U.S., and the world,” Dean Heather Hall said.

Dr. Leigh Minchew received the Excellence in Scholarship Award. This award recognizes outstanding scholars in the College of Nursing whose work expands knowledge, advances health care and contributes to the health of society.

Dr. Amy Beasley received the Excellence in Service Award. This award honors outstanding nurse educators who consistently provide meaningful service to the community and inspire students to serve others.

Dr. Brian Johnson and Dr. Rebecca Thomas received the Excellence in Teaching Award. This award recognizes educators who engage learners, inspire continued learning and demonstrate exemplary teaching and mentorship.

Dr. Lori Moore received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators, an honor that recognizes faculty whose influence helps shape the nurses of today and tomorrow through skilled, compassionate teaching.

The University of South Alabama College of Nursing is proud to recognize Dr. Leigh Minchew, Dr. Amy Beasley, Dr. Brian Johnson, Dr. Rebecca Thomas and Dr. Lori Moore during Nurses Week and grateful for the impact they continue to make on students, colleagues and the nursing profession.
