Michelle CoutureMichelle Couture, a graduate nursing student in the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, has been named the 2026-2027 recipient of the American Journal of Nursing / Thelma Schorr Scholarship from Nurses Educational Funds.

Couture is studying to become both a family and emergency nurse practitioner through the College of Nursing. She is dual-certified as an emergency nurse and critical care nurse and brings more than a decade of nursing experience to her graduate studies.

The Nurses Educational Funds scholarship supports graduate nursing students who demonstrate academic performance, leadership and commitment to the nursing profession. For Couture, the recognition provides financial support for her continued education and affirms her work as a lifelong learner.

As she continues her studies, Couture hopes to use her advanced training to improve patient care, support emergency preparedness and contribute to better health outcomes.
