Employee Recognition

We believe that the dedication, commitment and passion of USA employees is worthy of high praise. Below is a high-level overview of recognition activities as we continue to build a comprehensive website which will launch next year.

These awards recognize the excellent service provided to students, alumni, and other constituencies by the employees of the University of South Alabama. To accomplish this goal, the Association recognizes selected University employees annually for their outstanding service and dedication.

Milestone Celebration
This dinner is for employees with at least 25 years of service. Invitations are extended to employees who are celebrating 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years at USA. During this event, 25 year employees receive their medallion.

Employee Recognition Picnic
The All-Employee Picnic is a time for employees to enjoy games, picnic fare, music and one another. There is no program or agenda other than to say thank you to all of the hard work USA employees do daily.

Employee Achievement
This reception is for our 40, 45, & 50 year employees, Christie Miree Outstanding Employee Award Winners, and Employees of the Quarter. Employees who have achieved these significant accomplishments are invited to enjoy a meal with the President and other University and USA Health Administrators.

2020 Programs

April 22 – All Employee Picnic

 

  1. What is the date of the event? The All Employee Picnic is Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
  2. What time is the event? Noon – 4:00 pm.
  3. Where is the event? The park in front of the Tennis Courts off Old Shell Rd. on Campus. https://goo.gl/maps/WN5gURL1kN2xU5RGA
  4. Do I have to use my vacation or PTO to attend this event? Attendance during scheduled working hours is subject to the approval of your supervisor based on the operational needs of the department. If approved to attend, employees are not required to use vacation or PTO when attending this event during scheduled working hours.
  5. Were other locations vetted? Yes, we looked into other locations but given the anticipated guest size, a location on campus remains our best option.
  6. Where should I park? Mitchell Center Parking lot located off of Old Shell Road.
  7. Do I need to register? Yes, you will need to register here. This information assists us in determining how much food we should order and how much seating we will need.
  8. Do I need anything to enter the picnic? Yes, we ask that you bring your employee ID.  We will be checking ID’s at a central registration area, so be sure to check in before heading to the food lines.
  9. Is this event rain or shine? No, this event will not take place in the rain. Our rain date is Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
  10. What is the event dress code? President Waldrop has approved work appropriate casual attire for employees. 
  11. Who can attend? This event is open to all USA employees (non-student).
  12. Can student employees attend? No, this event is held exclusively for USA employees (non-student) only.
  13. What food will be provided? The food is primarily a picnic style menu. You should expect hamburgers, salads, ice cream and picnic style fare. There will be a limited number of vegetarian options available, so please be sure to register.
  14. Will there be alcohol? No, there will be no alcohol allowed at this event.
  15. What is the cost to attend? This event is 100% free.
  16. Can I bring my family? No, this event is exclusively for USA employees (non-student).
  17. What other activities will be there? Similar to previous years, we will have games and entertainment.
  18. Will there be seating in the shade? Based on feedback, we have moved the picnic to a more shaded area on campus.
  19. Is this the only Employee picnic? No, this picnic does not replace other University division or departmental celebrations.
