AATS Academic Advising & Transfer Services

Academic advising is the process where you obtain the critical information you need to make thoughtful decisions about your college career, such as deciding upon your major or solving any roadblocks you may encounter along the way. An academic advisor’s purpose is to encourage students to develop as self-directed learners and decision makers. Finally, good academic advising supports the mission of the University of South Alabama through encouraging student academic success and persistence towards graduation.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION, ADVISING AND REGISTRATION:

All NEW incoming students are required to register for new student orientation. Once you have registered for new student orientation, an academic advisor will reach out to you to schedule an appointment. During your appointment you will have the opportunity to discuss your program course requirements and enroll in courses.  New student advising for summer and fall will begin April 20th and continue through summer. You will have the option to meet with your advisor in person or via zoom

COVID-19 Update:

Although our offices are open, all advising appointments for current students will be conducted virtually. For exceptions, please email your academic advisor. You can schedule advising appointments online via Navigate South which can be found on the student log in page, or you may call AATS at (251) 341-4017 for assistance.
