Our college provides a variety of online and in-person graduate programs in the Departments of Counseling and Instructional Sciences, Leadership and Teacher Education, and Health, Kinesiology and Sport

MONDAY, APRIL 5

Master's in Educational Media - Library Media

The Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences offers a Master of Education degree program in Educational Media (Library Media). The fully online graduate program is designed to prepare students to plan, design and manage library media centers and certify students to serve as school library media specialists. Prospective students must have a valid bachelor’s- or master’s-level professional educator certificate in a teaching field or a valid master’s-level professional educator certificate in another area of instructional support and a minimum of two years professional teaching experience. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

Master’s in Sport Management

The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sport offers a Master's in Sport Management, a fully online program that focuses on elements of the sports industry with a specific emphasis on sport event and organizational management. Individuals wishing to carve out a distinct personal path in the sport industry will benefit from this 30 hour online academic program. With a diverse range of sport occupations now available, the M.S. Sport Management Program provides the capabilities and confidence to lead community and youth sport programs, high school or intercollegiate athletic departments, professional and international sports teams, governing body divisions, state and city sport commissions, or sport venue operations.

TUESDAY, APRIL 6

Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Instructional Design and Development

The Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences offers the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Instructional Design and Development. Both programs provide high quality educational opportunities that combine practical, "hands on" activities with a solid theoretical foundation. Many courses are web-based, which adds additional flexibility to the learning process. In fact, it's possible to complete the master's degree entirely online. Instructional designers are in high demand in all sectors of the economy - business, industry, K-12 schools, higher education, and local, state, and federal government.

Master’s in Exercise Science

The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sport offers a Master's in Exercise Science. Students can choose from the thesis and non-thesis track. The thesis track includes course work and research experiences that involve completing a thesis in an area related to exercise physiology and kinesiology. The non-thesis track includes course work and experiences in preparation for a career in a clinical setting such as wellness/fitness, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and sports performance. The Master of Science in Exercise Science requires students to complete a minimum of 30 hours of academic coursework.

Special Education Traditional Master’s, Alternative Master’s and Educational Specialist Graduate Programs

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers a Collaborative K-12 Education Graduate Program preparing students to work in Special Education at either the elementary or secondary level. Initial certification or advanced degree options are available. Choose from the Traditional Collaborative Teaching M.Ed. (Online Program), Alternative Collaborative Teaching M.Ed. (Online Program), and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Collaborative Teaching. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7

Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education Alternative Master’s Program

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers an Alternative Master of Education (Alt. M.Ed.) in Elementary Education and Alt. M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. Alternative master's programs are offered for prospective students who have a bachelor's degree in another field and want to become a teacher. The Alt. M.Ed. in Elementary Education prepares individuals holding a bachelor’s degree to teach in kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms. The Alt. M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education prepares individuals holding a bachelor’s degree to teach in pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade classrooms.

Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Reading Specialist Traditional Master’s and Educational Specialist Graduate Programs

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Elementary Education (Online), M.Ed. in Elementary Education with Reading Certification, Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) in Elementary Education, M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education (Online), M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education with Reading Certification, and Ed.S. in Early Childhood Education. One-year completion options are available for the M.Ed. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. These degrees are intended for prospective students who already have a Class A or B teaching certificate. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

Secondary Education Graduate Program

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education Secondary Education Graduate Programs prepare students to work in grades 6-12 in specific content areas. Initial certification or advanced degree options are available. Choose from the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education with Class A Certification, Alternative Master of Education (Alt. M.Ed.) with Class A Certification, and Instructional Specialist (Ed.S.) in Secondary Education with Class AA Professional Certification. Alternative master's programs are offered for prospective students who have bachelors’ degrees in related content fields and want to become teachers. Many of the courses are offered online or with options for meeting online or on campus. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

English for Speakers of Other Languages P-12 Graduate Program

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers a fully online Traditional Master of Education (M.Ed.) in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) P-12 and an Alternative Master of Education (Alt. M.Ed.) in ESOL P-12. The alternative master's program prepares individuals who do not have a prior background or teaching certificate in education, but hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a related content field. Students in these programs learn about the latest research based principles and intensive linguistics study for advancing the fluency of English Language Learners. Topics include "Fundamentals of Teaching ESL," "Linguistic Theory and Application," "Cultural Issues of Learning English as a Second Language," "Models of ESL Instruction," "Teaching Writing Skills in English," "Advancing Reading Fluency in English," "Increasing Oral Language Skills," "Choosing Materials for Teaching English as a Second Language," and much more. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

Educational Leadership Doctoral Program

The Educational Leadership Ed.D. Program is an intensive 60 credit hour, modified cohort-based program designed for educators who wish to earn a terminal degree in educational leadership. The Ed.D. Program allows students to keep their current full-time jobs while also studying full-time. The program is intended to train an emerging generation of senior educational leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to connect research, theory, and practice in leading high performing learning organizations to manage resources strategically, engage in evidence-based decision-making, promote continuous improvement, and encourage innovation. Coursework is delivered using a combination of face-to-face classes on campus, blended, and fully online formats. Designed with a theory-to-practice focus, the program brings the research literature and best practices together with the problems of practice faced in day-to-day educational settings.

Health Education, Physical Education, and Health Graduate Programs

The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sport offers a Master's in Health Education (6-12) and Master's in Physical Education (P-12), both designed as teacher certification programs. The department also offers a Master's in Health that prepares students to work in a variety of healthcare and human service settings. The master’s in health program is designed to help non-teacher education students increase their knowledge and develop the skills necessary for advancement in community health professions. Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Programs

The Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences offers a Master of Education in School Counseling and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The mission of the School Counseling master’s program is to prepare intellectually informed, interpersonally skilled, and culturally competent professional counselors who promote and provide services that meet proactively and reactively the needs of youth, adults and communities by effectively employing the best practices of the counseling profession. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s degree is designed to prepare students with professional competencies required for the professional counseling field. Graduates in this program provide counseling services in various settings such as public and private counseling agencies, government service agencies, family court systems, college development centers, substance abuse centers, and private practice.

Master's in K-12 Educational Leadership

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers a fully online Master's of Educational Leadership for K-12 Administrators. The Educational Leadership (Administration) or School Leadership options lead to a Master of Education Degree and/or Class A Certification to work as a school administrator. Choose from the following three fully online options: Master of Education (M.Ed. Degree) in Educational Administration and Class A Certification (30 Hours), Instructional Leadership Class A Certification (30 Hours), and Instructional Leadership Class A Certification – Reduced Hour Option (21 Hours). Current certified educators qualify for the USA Educator Excellence Scholarship, which equates to 20% of tuition cost each semester for six consecutive semesters.

Master’s in Higher Education Leadership

The Department of Leadership and Teacher Education offers a fully online Master's of Educational Leadership for Higher Education Administration. Students and graduates of this program work in higher education organizations and associations as well as in universities or community colleges and specialize in areas ranging from housing and residential life to athletics to multicultural affairs. This program admits every semester.
