Accreditation

The Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the accrediting body for all schools in the United States and Canada that offer the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. The LCME is jointly sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association.

LCME accreditation is a voluntary, peer-reviewed quality assurance process that determines whether the medical education program meets established standards. The USA Whiddon College of Medicine holds full accreditation at the highest level, demonstrating that graduates exhibit professional competencies that are appropriate for entry to the next stage of their training. The next self-study and site visit will occur in the LCME 2026-27 cycle.
