Meet a Med StudentCarlysle Salter

Class: 2027

Hometown: Mobile, AL

Education: B.S. in Biochemistry, Baylor University; Graduate Certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Professionals, University of South Alabama

What do you enjoy most about being a student at the Whiddon College of Medicine?
I love being in my hometown and close to friends and family. The Whiddon College of Medicine truly does have a family feeling since it is a smaller, more personable medical school. The support you receive as a medical student here is unlike any other program.

Are you involved in any research, organizations or other initiatives at the Whiddon College of Medicine?
Yes! Most of the research I have participated in has involved analyzing gun violence with the Department of Surgery and medical education with the Department of Emergency Medicine and Dr. David Williams. Currently, I am the vice president of the Emergency Medicine Interest Group and treasurer of the Medical Spanish Interest Group.

What are your interests and hobbies?
You can usually find me on my family's farm riding horses or fixing broken stuff when I am not studying or at the hospital.
