Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development to launch Mentoring by Design series

Mentor CraftThe Office of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development will launch its new series, Mentoring by Design: An Interactive Series on Reflection, Relationships, and Practice, on July 10. Designed to build foundational mentoring practices, the three-part series begins with the first session:

Topic: Establishing a Shared Understanding of Mentoring

During the interactive one-hour session, participants will explore the distinctions between traditional and mentee-focused mentoring approaches while identifying the core principles of effective mentoring relationships. The session will incorporate role-playing and group discussion based on Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory. No formal assessments or evaluations are required.

The program is open to faculty, residents, program coordinators, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Current mentors, mentees and those interested in developing mentoring relationships are encouraged to participate.

Additional sessions in the series, all scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom, include:

  • Grand Round 2 (Aug. 14): Building a Mentoring Relationship
  • Grand Round 3 (Sept. 11): The Practice of Mentoring

Each session qualifies for 1 CME credit, with participants eligible to earn up to 3 CME credits by attending the full series.
