Sheila Diann Hammon successfully defended her dissertation titled, “Assessing the Effect of Perceived Organizational Social Responsibility on Organizational Identity and Employee Engagement in a Municipal Context,” on March 3.  Her committee members are Marjorie Icenogle, Chair, Zach Finney, Matthew Howard, and Jeanne Maes.  Congratulations Dr. Hammon!

John Roach successfully defended his dissertation titled, “The Comparison of Thriving and Engagement Among Attorneys: Two Sides of the Same Coin?” on March 3.  His committee members are Marjorie Icenogle, Chair, Treena Finney, Williams Gillis, and Matt Howard.  Congratulations Dr. Roach!

Economics and Finance

Dr. Reid Cummings spoke recently at the annual company retreat of Wilkins Miller, a prominent Mobile-based accounting firm. Offering opening remarks for the two-day retreat held at the Five Rivers Conference Center on the Causeway, Dr. Cummings addressed the current state of the Mobile MSA economy, and prospects for future growth and expansion of the Center for Real Estate and Economic Development.

Drs. Ermanno Affuso and Reid Cummings recently attended BB&T’s Annual Economic Outlook held at the Original Oyster House on the Causeway. The featured speaker was well-known economist, Dr. Walter “Bucky” Hellwig, Senior Vice President and Regional Portfolio Manager.

Mickey Smith’s in High Performance Organizations this summer will be conducting a project with Bruce Coole at Airbus.

Marketing and Quantitative Methods

Matt C. Howard has an article forthcoming in Industrial/Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, titled, “Let’s keep looking for other roads: Identifying and addressing key drivers with needs assessment, causal analysis, and other techniques.”
