Overview
The Office of Military Services is the University of South Alabama’s office dedicated to processing military educational benefits for students, programming for military affiliated students, and supporting initiatives of the Division of Student Affairs.

Position Description and Responsibilities
This graduate assistant will do the following:

Assist in daily operations in collecting data regarding student veterans, creating and organizing data-collection tools, and disseminating information to military affiliated students.

Must learn state and federal military education benefits and assist the OVA in communicating with students and families regarding military student educational benefits.

Regularly conducts outreach to military affiliated students.

Manage all aspects of programming for OVA, including collaborating with other departments to plan events relevant to student veterans.

Maintain Facebook and Instagram accounts, create social media engagement through regular posting, cross-post other departments events, promote campus activities, and create social media campaigns highlighting different aspects of the student veteran population and relevant veteran topics.

Research grant opportunities to increase services for veteran students.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google suite tools and learn how to utilize utilize university systems such Navigate, Banner, etc.

Other Duties as assigned.
Office Hours (20/week)
The Graduate Assistant is expected to maintain the required number of hours per week. Hours are flexible with possible nights and weekend activities. The schedule should be discussed with the Associate Director of Military Services.

Compensation
$10,000 per year and a tuition waiver for up to 10 hours per semester.
