▼   Conduct Policy
All patrons are expected to abide by the established rules and regulations for the Student Recreation Center as well as all USA policies and procedures. Failure to follow the rules and regulations governing the Student Recreation Center and its programmed activities will result in disciplinary action including possible removal from the Student Recreation Center and suspension of privileges as well as possible referral to Judicial Affairs.
▼   Locker Rental

Day use lockers may be used daily at no charge. All items and the lock must be removed by the end of each day.

Rental lockers are available in full size and half size.

  • Locate the locker number that you'd like to rent. Lockers labeled with a name are unavailable.
  • Fill out the locker request form. Note the locker number in the comment section.
  • You will be contacted by Maygan Williams (src@southalabama.edu) regarding your specific locker assignment.
  • After receiving your specific locker assignment, you will receive an online invoice from our Campus Recreation Portal. Payment is due within 48 hours of the invoice, or your locker may be reassigned.
  • Lockers are rented by the year. Full-sized lockers are $75/year. Half-sized lockers are $50/year. Locker fees are prorated one time in December.

▼   Towel rental

Towel service is charged per year. The fee is $27 for September 1, 2021-May 31, 2022. Fill out a towel request form and pay at the SRC front desk.

▼   Guest Policy

Guest fee is $10 per person, per day. Member must accompany and be present at signing guest in. Only 2 guests allowed per member. Please provide photo ID.

▼   Dependent Policy

All children who use Campus Recreation facilities, including the outdoor pool, must have an active membership regardless of age. Dependent hours are restricted. During Fall and Spring semesters, children age 16 and under may only use the Student Recreation Center on Fridays after 3:00pm, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday.

In the summer, dependent use of the Student Recreation Center will be extended. **These extended summer hours have ended effective 08/14/2021. 

As defined by the Department of Campus Recreation, for the purpose of accessing the Student Recreation Center, a dependent status exists anywhere there is a parent or legal guardian/child relationship. The member will be asked to provide evidence that this relationship exists at the time he/she completes the dependent waiver form. Member will be charged for membership for up to two dependents. After two, additional dependents will be free of charge.

Dependent's Level of Access

  • Aged up to 3: Only permitted in swimming pools with direct supervision during dependent hours. Swimming diapers are required.
  • Ages 3-15: Permitted to use the track, swimming pools, multi-purpose courts, indoor soccer court, and racquetball courts with direct parent/guardian supervision during dependent hours. In addition, dependents ages 6-15 are permitted to use the rock wall during dependent hours with parent/guardian supervision. Child must wear climbing shoes, be able to climb on their own, and parents must be present. Our climbing shoes start at Size 2. In addition, dependents ages 10-15 may attend SouthFit classes with direct parent/guardian supervision. Dependents must be able to actively participate in the classes.
  • Ages 12+: Permitted to use cardio machines with strict parental supervision.
  • Ages 14-15: Permitted to use weight rooms with strict parental supervision.
  • Age 16: Permitted in all areas of the Student Recreation Center with indirect parent/guardian supervision** during dependent hours.
  • Ages 17+: Permitted in all areas of the Student Recreation Center without parent/guardian supervision. Not restricted to dependent hours. These members should be prepared to present a second form of identification showing their age.

All dependents using the Student Recreation Center must have a membership to access the facility.

*Direct supervision is defined as being in the same room no further than 20 feet apart. Parent/guardian MUST be actively participating in the same activity as the dependent, e.g. playing basketball together, playing racquetball together, swimming together, etc. This does not mean, for example, that the parent can be in a group exercise class while the dependent sits along the wall and watches.

**Indirect supervision is defined as parent/legal guardian being in the facility at the same time as the dependent; however, both are not required to be in the same area.

Rules

Only members' dependents are allowed to use the Kids' Play Zone.

 

  1. Members must remain in the Student Recreation Center and may not leave the building while their dependents are in the Kids' Play Zone.
  2. There is a limit of 8 children at a time in the Kids' Play Zone. Access is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  3. Children can stay in the Kids' Play Zone for a maximum of two hours per visit.
  4. Children must be potty trained and between the ages of 3-10 to utilize this service.
  5. The parent/legal guardian who drops the child off must be the same parent/legal guardian who picks up the child. No exceptions  will be made to this policy, unless made with a professional staff member with both parents/guardians present.
  6. The use of the Kids' Play Zone does not require a dependent membership. However, use of any other areas in the Student Recreation Center will require purchase of a membership.
  7. Children may bring water in a sippy cup or sports bottle into the Kids' Play Zone, but no other food or drinks are allowed.
