Shane Monagle is currently in his first year of the MBA program from MCOB. Originally from Tramore, Ireland, he is also a sprinter on the USA Track & Field Team.

"I used to play all types of sports growing up including Soccer, Gaelic (Irish) Football, Hurling, Golf and Track and Field. I ultimately ended up choosing to pursue Track and Field further through the end of my high school career and into my college career. I studied for my undergraduate degree from Dublin City University, Ireland, where I received my bachelor's degree in business, specializing in finance. After my undergrad I wished to progress my academics and athletics further and I settled upon the University of South Alabama for this and I don't think I will ever look back as it is one of the best decisions I could have made."

"The MBA program here has so far allowed me to explore a wide range of modules and classes helping me to find the area of expertise that I'd like to specialize in after I graduate. So far I've made so many connections and friends through the program that will stand to me long after my time at the University of South Alabama."

Monagle is in the Graduate Assistant (GA) program at MCOB, working in the college’s Marketing & Communications Department.

"I knew coming to the 'South' would be a culture shock at first compared to Ireland, but I've been nothing less than amazed at all the ways of the 'South' from college football games and tailgating all the way to having sweet tea sitting on the porch in the warm setting sun. I couldn't recommend the experience of going to college abroad enough, it's a great way to expand your knowledge of the different cultures, push yourself outside your comfort zone and learn from the experience and bring it with you for the rest of your life."

"I plan to make the most of my time here at South Alabama and push myself to be the best I can be in both my Academics and my Athletics and judging from my time here so far, I may never want to leave."
