Building A Coastal Analytics Community

                        On November 18, 2021 the South Alabama Center for Business Analytics, Real Estate
                              and Economic Development, SABRE, hosted the inaugural Business Analytics Summit. The
                              Summit brought together over 130 attendees from academia to various business industries
                              to start building a coastal analytics community. Industry professionals, students,
                              staff and faculty had the opportunity to receive insights into the world of data analytics
                              and exchange knowledge with fellow data analytics enthusiasts. At the summit, attendees
                              were able to listen to 14 business professional speakers from different industries
                              such as: Michelle Crowe the Chief Marketing Officer of e-worc, Brent Dudley President
                              of 68 Ventures or Brian Mooneyham, VP, Analytics, Decision Support and Data Visualization,
                              Operations at Wells Fargo. 
During panel discussions, the speakers exchanged their knowledge and views on important
                              topics such as data governance and workforce challenges in analytics. Additionally
                              the speakers presented current data analytics insights into reporting, visualization,
                              and storytelling. 
Besides business professionals, students from the University of South Alabama, Troy
                              University, and Springhill College attended the SABRE Analytics Summit, to learn about
                              data analytics and how to become a data analytics expert. 
“Just like we intended, the event has helped us jumpstart forming an analytics community
                              in the Mobile area.” Said center Assistant Director, Jana Stupvasky. “We have been
                              receiving good feedback about topics of interest for future sessions, panels and even
                              workshops. We will carefully evaluate all the feedback and work towards making next
                              year’s event even better.”
