Greetings, and welcome to the February 2019 Mobile Bay Economic Snapshot.

The introduction of our first Snapshot in November 2017 fulfilled one of our key strategic initiatives: becoming a primary data and education resource for our region’s professionals, business owners, nonprofits, and governmental entities. The Snapshot and underlying data available in our monthly newsletter and on our website is a robust compilation of key regional and national business and economic data. We present the information in a visually dynamic, contextually significant format and we have worked continually to make improvements, add new features, and track new data points. This month we are incredibly pleased to introduce our latest refinement.

Look at our newest version to see substantive changes in the way we present real estate sales information. In addition to updating our condominium dashboard, our residential dashboard now provides even greater detail. You can not only examine new and existing home sales by county, now you can also do so by city. A series of tabs at the top of the residential dashboard screen prompts our new selection options, and the scaling dropdowns make it simple to zero in on a month, quarter, or year for any home sale over the last 18 years.

You will see our most dramatic change though on our commercial real estate dashboard. We still report monthly and year-to-date sales by total units and values, and average and median prices on a per county basis, yet we do so in a much more granular way. We will now also report Mobile and Baldwin County commercial real estate sales categorized by 10 different property types. Our convenient, icon-driven interface lets you easily drill in on a particular property type. By toggling between display options you can customize historical trend views dating to January 2001.

We hope you are as excited as we are with these latest changes. Many more are in the works. And by the way, if you like how our dashboards function and think they might be a good fit in some way for your business or organization, give us a call. We can work with you to create just the right look and feel to transform your data powerfully and effectively.

Until next time, from everyone at the Center, we wish you and yours all of the best.
