2020 Discover Archaeology! Virtual Summer Day Camp
Looking for something fun and educational for the kids to do this summer? Join us for our Discover Archaeology! Virtual Summer Day Camp July 20-24! Kids will be introduced to the basics of archaeology through interactive Zoom presentations led by Museum staff, where they will participate in a new hands-on activity each day using materials and supplies already at home or easily obtained at local stores. The program is FREE and ideal for children ages 7-11.
To register, please email Ms. Candice Cravins, Assistant Director, at ccravins@southalabama.edu by Monday, July 13, 2020. Please note your permission is required for your child to participate in the online Zoom programs. Children will have the opportunity to speak to museum staff or submit questions via a chat box – video is not required, but you will need to ensure you can see and hear museum staff on your end. Each session will be held in a secure classroom – no one will have access to this space outside of our campers and our staff. The link to the Zoom classroom will be emailed to you on Friday, July 17, 2020.

- Activity: Make your own rock art panel
- Supplies Needed: Crayons, colored pencils, or markers; paper of any size or color (large paper grocery bags work really well for this activity!)

- Topic: Magnificent Moundbuilders
- Activity: Make your own gorget
- Supplies Needed: Air-dry clay of any color; pencils, toothpicks, or other small tools to create designs in the clay; a small paper plate for drying; string long enough to go around the neck
