Greg Prescott has been appointed to the editorial board of The Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance in May 2015. Greg taught several courses in Accounting and Commercial Lending in the 40th annual session of the Alabama Banking School (ABS) in July 2015 on USA's campus. Greg has been a faculty member of the ABS since 1998.

Carol Vann and Greg Prescott presented two sessions of a peer-reviewed technology presentation entitled, Livescribe Pen: An Inexpensive Technology Requiring Minimal Faculty Time Investment with Huge Payoff for Students, during the Conference on Teaching and Learning at the annual meeting of the American Accounting Association in Chicago, IL in August 2015.

Economics and Finance

Ermanno Affuso attended the 31st West Indies Agricultural Economics Conference in St. Croix, U.S. August 9 through August 14. He presented a paper "The Environmental Impact of El Nino Southern Oscillation Forecasts."

Ermmano Affuso and co-authors E. D. Hite and N. W.L. Wilson. published an article titled, "A Stochastic Frontier Analysis to Examine Research Priorities for Genetically Engineered Peanuts." in the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics: 1-23.

Donald Epley and Reid Cummings' research note "Better tourism market analysis by using import gap analysis" was recently published in TOURISM ECONOMICS (Volume 21, No. 4, August 2015 pp. 871-879).

Kenneth Hunsader, Gwendolyn Pennywell and Ross Dickens recently published "Hydraulic Fracturing Global Legislation and Its Impact on Energy Firms' Stock Returns" in the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives (Volume XLII, No. 1 Spring/Summer 2015).

Kenneth Hunsader is a co-author along with Shaozun Zhang, Kalok Chan, and James Ang and presented "Trading Fragmentation and Stock Price Performance during the Flash Crash" at the China International Conference in Finance in Shenzhen in July 2015.

"By successfully completing the required training and exams, Dr. Gwendolyn Pennywell has become certified to integrate SAP into the Finance curriculum."

The American Real Estate Society appointed Reid Cummings as Case Study Editor of the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education effective June 1, 2015.

The Southern Business and Economics Journal has accepted Reid Cummings' manuscript, "Residential Real Estate Realities After The Financial Crisis: Examining the Effectiveness of Seller-Paid Incentives to Buyers and Agents."

James Swofford was an invited speaker at the Launch of the University of Birmingham's Financial Resilience Research Cluster, in the United Kingdom on 25 and 26 March. The title of his talk was : "The US Money Supply Revisited"

James Swofford presented two papers at the Western Economic Association International meetings in Honolulu, Hawaii. His paper were "Scotland as a Common Currency Area" with co-authors Binner, Chaudhry and Mullineux and "Mixed Integer Programming Revealed Preference Tests of Utility Maximization and Weak Separability of Consumption, Leisure and Money, " co-authored by Hjerstand and Whitney.

In Spring 2015, James Swofford sponsored a student reading group with about 12 students. The students selected and read Angus Deaton's The Great Escape: Health, Wealth, and the Origins of Inequality.

Management

Marjorie Icenogle presented a half-day seminar for small business owners and general managers titled "HR Fundamentals: What all manager need to know about HR" on August 14, 2015 as part of the Mobile SHRM Mini Conference
